The Danish Centre for Manor Research

The centre is a co-operation between Aarhus University, the Danish National Museum, the Aarhus School of Architecture and Gammel Estrup - the Manor Museum. It promotes and co-ordinates research, education of researchers, documentation and communication of the cultural history of the manor.

The centre contributes to increasing the general knowledge of the Danish manor environment, and tries to create a greater appreciation of the necessity of preserving the estates as whole entities.

The centre promotes research on the importance of the different elements of the manor environment and the cultural life that took place at the manors.

The centre also provides the setting for conferences which bring together researchers from Denmark and abroad. Through establishing a network of researchers and others interested in manors, the centre also works as a co-ordinator, a promoter and an entrepreneur of research projects within the field.
