This south-facing room is the preferred parlour of Countess Augusta thanks to its elegant 18th-century style: New items of furniture such as the sofa, and costly laquered furniture from the East are gaining ground.
The walls are covered in blue fabric, and doors and windows have been brightly painted with scenes from Italian comedy. In several places, the countess’ own face and the arms of the Scheels are included.
According to letters from that time, the countess’ favourite colour is blue. This shade, Parisian blue, is new and fashionable in the early 18th century, and it reoccurs in several of the original elements of this parlour, most obviously the ceiling where it serves as a background for the mirrored monogram with the initials of the count and countess: CSAW.
