Journal of Manor & Estate History
The Current Forum for Danish Manor House History
Journal of Manor & Estate History (Herregårdshistorie) is the journal and book series of Gammel Estrup – The Danish Manor & Estate Museum and the Danish Research Centre for Manorial Studies.
It is a richly illustrated publication aimed at anyone with an interest in manor houses and Danish cultural heritage.
The journal is generally published once a year in book format. The articles are also published digitally and free of charge on the Royal Danish Library's tidsskrift.dk, one year after the book publication.
From 2025, Journal of Manor & Estate History will have an overarching theme for each issue, and all articles undergo peer review.

Do you want to write an article?
Articles should align with the publication’s theme:
No. 22 (2026): Manor houses in the 20th and 21st centuries
No. 23 (2027): The significance of manor houses for social development
If you would like to write an article, please submit an abstract of ½–1 page (250–350 words) to Signe Boeskov, sb@gammelestrup.dk by 5 November. See current call for Manor House History 22 (pdf).
Articles should be 10–15 pages long, approximately 2,400 characters per page. In addition, up to 10 illustrations should be provided.
The full articles must be submitted by 5 March, after which they will undergo thorough editing and anonymous peer review by experts with research competence in the field of manor house studies.
