Danish Castle & Manor Forum

A National Network for Research and Communication

The purpose of the Danish Castle & Manor Forum (Slots- og Herregårdsforum) is to bring together professional communicators and researchers across disciplinary boundaries, creating an active, nationwide platform for the exchange of research, methods, and communication results—and for discussing shared concerns related to Danish castle and manor house culture in general.

Through fruitful collaboration among architects, historians, ethnologists, conservators and preservation specialists, museum staff, and university researchers, the goal is to further develop the castle and manor house field and foster new partnerships.

The network focuses on Danish castles, manor houses, and palaces, guided by the principle of open knowledge sharing and collaborative exchange.

Activities

The Danish Castle & Manor Forum is a further development of a national manor history network, which has existed since 2002. The secretariat for the network is managed by Gammel Estrup – The Danish Manor & Estate Museum and the Danish Research Centre for Manorial Studies at Gammel Estrup.

The Forum coordinates, promotes, and develops collaboration within the field of manor house history. At least one seminar is held annually, where members gather to discuss a selected topic and keep each other updated on developments in the field.
